Most delays are not visa delays. They are document delays, and almost all of them are avoidable.
Passport validity is first. Many destinations require at least a year remaining. Renewing takes weeks; discovering the problem after selection costs you the seat.
Attestation is second. Educational and trade certificates usually need attestation before an employer can file a permit. The chain differs by country and by document, and doing it in the wrong order means starting again.
Third is the medical. Gulf countries use approved medical centres, and results have a validity window. Taking the test too early is as unhelpful as taking it too late.
The practical answer is to prepare the file before you are selected, not after. A candidate with an attested trade certificate and a valid passport is on a plane while someone equally skilled is still queueing.
