What Gulf employers actually look for in a trade test

Employers do not fail candidates for lacking a certificate. They fail them for being unable to do on the test bench what the CV claims.

For welders, the test is usually a practical run in the position the job requires. A 6G ticket means nothing if the bead cannot pass a bend test. For masons, it is a plumb line and a straight course. For drivers, it is reversing a loaded vehicle in a tight yard.

The candidates who pass have three things in common. They have worked recently in the trade. They bring their own basic tools where relevant. And they have practised the specific task the employer named, not a general version of it.

If you are preparing for a test, ask the agency exactly what will be assessed. Any office that cannot tell you has not read the demand letter carefully.
